Day for Daniel is an initiative of The Morcombe Foundation and focuses on child safety awareness. The Morcombe Foundation was established in 2005 by Denise and Bruce Morcombe following the tragic abduction and suspected murder of their 13 year old son Daniel in December 2003. Day for Daniel is not considered a memorial day but rather a learning day for children. By wearing the colour red and making a gold coin donation, students have the opportunity to show their support to this initiative. Day for Daniel 2012 will be held on Friday October 26. As this is the same date as National Bandanna Day, students are given the opportunity to show their support for one or both foundations.
