Last year as part of our AIP, we introduced Cecil’s PIPPAS (Parents Involved in Pre-prep Program At School) as a strategy to help prepare those prior to prep age children with foundation literacy skills. Another aim of the program was to allow new parents to get an insight into school life for their children. As the children are not of school age, it is a requirement for a parent or other significant adult to attend and participate in the activities with their children. The children and parents who participated last year, benefited greatly and developed strong foundation skills. We are once again starting Cecil’s PIPPAS again next term. It will run from 9-11am every Thursday. As this is a voluntary program, parents can choose to opt in and out as suites their needs &/or time commitment’s. Even if parents can only commit to attending once a fortnight, that’s fine as the children will still benefit greatly from the program.
What can you do to help at home? If you have a pre-prep child born between 1st of July 2008 and 30th of June 2009 and you would like to participate in Cecil’s PIPPAS, collect enrolment form from the office. If you know of a parent of a pre-prep child who may not see this newsletter, as they have no children at school yet, let them know about the program and its benefits for their children.
