Importance of Sleep

Can I draw you attention to this month’s topic in the calendar, “Sleep”? Although it is only early in the term, we are seeing children coming to school exhausted from not getting enough sleep already. Besides being too tired to focus on their job of learning, the children also become irritable which leads to behavioural issues. High schoolers are particularly bad at staying up to late hours thinking they will be fine the next day, and believe you me they are not. ALL school children need a going to bed routine with a set time that they WILL go to bed. As a parent, I know that can be hard to enforce sometimes, but we as the adults must do what we need to in the best interests of the children.

What can you do to help at home? Take the time to read the article and ensure you have routines in place so that your children get enough sleep to recharge so that they can get on with their job of learning at school.
