Can I draw your attention to this month’s AIP/calendar article, Numeracy – Lifelong Confidence in Mathematics? As you know numeracy is our focus for the next couple of years at least as we endeavor to improve the overall mean score of our children. We generally have our children achieving at or above the nation minimum standard, but now we need to take the next step and bring up the overall performance of all our children.
What can you do to help at home? Our HOC, Kelly Thorburn has up-dated the article, so please take the time to read it. Things have changed from when many adults learnt mathematics at school, so if the way the children are doing maths is confusing, take the time to see their teacher who will be able to explain it to you, so that you can help your children at home. Most importantly, find ways of making maths in real life fun.
