You will have seen our advert in the newsletter and Cecil Crier, inviting parents to enroll their pre-prep children in our Cecil’s PIPPAS (Parents Involved in Pre-prep Program at School) program. The aim of this program is to give these children a head start on their literacy and numeracy skills, with a parent/guardian there for support. Those children who attend Little Country Kids Club (LCKC) are already getting exposure to foundation literacy and numeracy skills and Cecil’s PIPPAS builds on that in the school setting. For those children who are unable to attend LCKC for one reason for another, Cecil’s PIPPAS would be their first formal exposure to foundation literacy and numeracy.
What can you do to help at home? If you have a pre-prep child, enroll them in Cecil’s PIPPAS or if you know someone who has a pre-prep child who may not have seen our advert, encourage them to enroll their child. A parent or other significant adult must attend, due to the fact that the children
are not of compulsory school age. The program is every Thursday morning from 9-11, but you can tailor it to suit your needs. That is, if you and your child can attend each week great, but if you can only attend once a fortnight, that is fine also. Any exposure children can get to foundation literacy and numeracy skills will help. Please see the office for enrolment forms.
