As I mentioned earlier our application to consult around reclassifying from a P-10 school to a P-9 is currently in the minister’s office. This was identified as a priority area for parents in our last Quad-annual School Review (QSR) and is listed in this year’s AIP as one of our targets. It’s looking like it will be approved, but that is just permission to consult. As much as parents identified changing to a P-9 school as a positive change, we are required to consult with everyone who may be affected by this change. This includes the high schools that the Year 10s would be moving onto, parents of future children to our school, the bus companies who would be transporting those children, etc.
What can you do to help at home? Have your say heard! This will have long term impacts for your children and everyone needs to make sure we know how they feel about this possible change. There will surveys sent out to the community (including parents), there will be forums to discuss the positive and negative implications of not having Year 10 at Cecil Plains anymore. Complete the surveys when they come out and come to the forums, so that not only are you informed, but we are also informed about your views.
