Principal’s YES Message:
I quizzed the children on what our YES Message stands for on parade this morning and I was pleased that many were able to tell me. Just as a reminder and for our new parents, YES is the driving force for our school. When we say YES we are saying YES: You Can Do It; YES: Every Child Shall Improve and YES: Student Targets Aim for Real Success, our STARS targets. We expect that every child can do it, they may need our help, but they can do it. We expect that every child will improve and as much as the adults have a job in making sure that happens, the children themselves need to be working to ensure they improve themselves. The last part, the children STARS targets are the goals they set with their teachers every 5 weeks to reach in reading, spelling and number. A copy of the STARS targets go home so you know what your children’s goals are and how you can help them reach their goals. We regard all our children as stars, which is why we have children and adult Stars of the Week.
What can you do to help at home? Reinforce our YES Message with your children at home. Don’t let them say “I can’t do it”, they can they just might need your help or their teacher’s. Keep track of their progress and make sure you know what their current 5 week goals are and talk to their teacher’s about how you can help them reach their goals.
