The Year 5/6 Class has a varied curriculum with many interesting and interactive learning opportunities.
Students undertake studies in English and Mathematics with four targeted literacy and numeracy blocks across the week. As well as this, students are fortunate to have secondary teachers tutor HASS and Science and have specialist teachers for The Arts, Physical Education and AUSLAN.
With every learning opportunity, the Australian Curriculum is referenced ensuring your child is learning the same content as any child in Australia.
The You Can Do It program (as part of the school's YES message) will be implemented every fortnight focusing on the five social skills of resilience, getting along, persistence, organisation and confidence.
This year, the Year 5/6 Class has Mrs Skerman as their teacher from Monday - Thursday, with Miss Betts leading the class on a Friday. Parents are always welcome in the 5/6 room, whether just popping in to say hello or helping out in a session! We look forward to seeing you!
English - This term, students are studying the medium of short stories. They will analyse the plot structure and language features demonstrating their understanding through a reading comprehension and creation of their own narrative.
Mathematics - Students will be continuing with their investigation of fractions as well as exploring data and chance.
