The Health and Physical Education curriculum develops students’ knowledge, understanding and skills of personal, social and community health, as well as movement and physical activity. Students have the opportunity to optimise their health and well-being by participating in a range of physical activities and building strong, positive relationships.  HPE supports student’s personal development and encourages students to build and maintain satisfying relationship, with understanding and identifying a strong sense of self through resilience, self-confidence, persistence and determination. Students can enhance their physical fitness and improve their skills for athletics, swimming and various individual and team sports.
In Term 1, Junior Secondary students will develop the recognised swimming strokes of freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke. They will apply survival strokes, skills, movement concepts and strategies in simulated rescue situations. For the Health aspect of HPE students will investigate influences on food choices for adolescents.
The You Can Do It Program (as part of the schools YES message) will be implemented every fortnight focussing on the five social skills of Getting Along, Organisation, Resilience, Peristence and Confidence.
